So, now that PB's on version 1.084, I'm unable to play on any server. Once I get on, I'm not allowed to select a spawn point, and get kicked by PB for "prior kick/ban". I've never been kicked off of ANY server except to make room for a TLB member; I'm not a smacktard or a TKer. Just to verify, I went to some servers I'm CERTAIN I've never played on before, and same deal: "kicked for prior kick/ban."

Some other people on the PlanetBattlefield forums have reported the same thing, and I emailed Evenbalance, but no reply as of yet. I've already run pbweb and manually downloaded the most current files. Has anyone here had this problem or maybe some solution ideas? I'd appreciate it.

Sorry, I dont have any advice, but I thought you may like to know that you are not the only one getting that message. I have seen many names popup with that in the last couple of days. It is probably a problem with PB.

Try going to www.evenbalance.com and going into the BF42 section. Then go to downloads. Then download the pbweb.exe file into your pb folder under battlefield. Running the file from that folder should update punk buster. Maybe it will help?

Thanks for the advice, Assman. I'd already run pbweb before posting. I emailed evenbalance support, but no reply yet. As soon as I hear something that works, I'll post it for everyone.

Apparently, this problem is due to packet loss, and can be fixed by bumping up your connection settings in the multiplayer menu. Unfortunately, if you're on a 56K connection, you're SOL because the packet size of ADSL and LAN connections is too big.

People play this game with 56k connections? They still have those? :)

Hey Pro-B,

If you have ever loaded a cheat for battlefield on you computer, they will punkbuster will blackball you. My nephew loaded a cheat onto my computer when e was at my house and I couldn't get on any of the punkbusted games. I fought with evenbalance and unfortunately, they are not too cooperative. You can register on thier site and look at thier master list to see why you are on it.

The only way to deal with the porblem is to contact EA games and tell them you lost your serial number. Follow the directions they give you and get a new one. uninstall the game and make sure you delete the EAgames sub-directory. Then re-install the program.

Where can you bump up the connection? That may help solve my problems-kicked for packet loss and authentication issues.

on the screen where you are selecting the server you want to connect to. On the right hand side is a selection for connection speed.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that fixing your problem. I've got a 3Mb download (384 up) and I'm still getting the occasional boot. Not as much as Nogood but it does happen...

Try a manual update, not pbvweb, by downloading the required files direct from evenbalance.com

From thread in general discussions

If that doesnt work then there is something else to try
Quote:
includes a new setting called pb_netport that can be used as a workaround for players who get "Disconnected from server" after PB sends Master Query Packets; the default value for this setting is 0 which means PB will continue to use the game's network socket to communicate with PB masters; setting this to a non-zero value (such as 15000) will cause PB to use a separate network socket for Master Query Packets; this setting can be placed into the pbcl.cfg file in the pb folder to configure PB to use this setting each time it initializes; NOTE that players with a firewall or personal security software may need to configure these separately to fully allow traffic on the chosen port
try setting the parameter to something like pb_netport 15000

Not tried this one myself yet though
